Chef Josiah Hernandez from the award winning restaurant in Puerto Rico will be brining to New York a unique pop-up dinner series that celebrates the Caribbean ingredients. Come and be part of this unforgettable curated culinary experience where chef Josiah tells stories of the Caribbean-Tropical Latin America through unique displays of food. The dinner will include, pre-dinner drinks, a 7-course tasting menu describing the essence of the Caribbean, perfectly paired wines that will elevate the tropical flavors in every dish and a ceremonial tea at the end of dinner. There will be alcohol free wine pairing options upon request. At the end of the event, participants will be able to meet the chef and connect with him.
With close to 20 years of experience, chef Josiah is committed to brining culinary experiences that are interdisciplinary in nature pulling science, history, agriculture and art together. He has a Master’s in culinary arts and sustainable food systems from the University of Barcelona-Barcelona Culinary Hub, a Masters in Agriculture Economics from the University of Puerto Rico and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Josiah has collectively traveled and worked in over 20 countries in 5 different continents gaining valuable farm-to-table experiences to bring back to Puerto Rico. Chef Josiah uses his passion for Caribbean ingredients to connect with customers in a memorable way. Chef’s Garden received in 2023 the first sustainable restaurant certification in the Caribbean by a European organization. In 2024, the restaurant received the first Food Made Good certification in Puerto Rico from the internationally recognized, The Sustainable Restaurant Association. In 2024 Chef’s Garden received the historic recognition as the first restaurant in Puerto Rico to receive the award for best sustainable restaurant in Latin America & Iberian Peninsula (Portugal & Spain) by the Academia Iberoamericana de Gastronomía celebrated on the 25th of November 2024
